1. Consistency Is Key
Now you are probably thinking thats nothing new. But there is a reason I am starting off with this, in my opinion, most essential point of all: Consistency.
Success is something that will NEVER come over night. One of the main reasons of an ideas failure, is the fact that people start off highly ambitious but quickly lose interest again. Dreams are nothing without goals. With that said, set yourself realistic goals.
Smaller steps might take longer to approach your goal, but you are moving forward. Big Steps can potentially boost up your situation in no time, but the risk of falling below the starting line is always very present.

2. Be Professional
First Impression counts. Remember you are starting/ running your own business. You need a great product, a store, goals, a budget, a brand, a schedule, and a plan. You need to invest in yourself, before you can convince people to invest in you. Approach selling beats like you would approach selling any other item. Sound Design is a big field these days. Melody Patterns might not seem very complex in alot of mainstream releases, however most of the time the biggest focus has to be set on the unique sound design, something people can easily remember.

Look at your Beat Libary from an artist point of view. Compare your beats to todays industrys production. Can your beats compete with Industry Standards? How many do you have? What type of beats do you have? What makes your production stand out from others? Is your mixing professional?

You don’t neccessarily need to able to play several instruments perfectly. Alot of things can be achieved just by using the right technique. If you want to change your hobby to a profession, you need to exactly know what youre aiming for. Train yourself by watching tutorials on how to achieve certain goals, there are tons of great resources out there, that can help you improve your musical/ sound engineering/ and even marketing skills in no time, simply google your question. Nothing is more important than offering unique, professional sounding material.

4. Social Media
In the modern age of unpersonal non transparent technology, nothing is more important than social interaction. Try building long term relationships with fans and customers by answering emails and replying to their comments in a professional timely manner. Your social media needs to be active and on point, work out a plan to find out when your fans, listeners and followers are most active, try to include everyone into the discussion by asking questions/ preferences on your Twitter, Facebook or Instagram Account.
At the end of the day it is all about sales conversion – Number of People checking out your music in realtion to sales.
Social Media accounts might not have a the best sale conversion at first glance, as social posts do not have the main intention of selling products to your customer, but the showcase of a active, vital social feeds often build a more personal base between you and your potential customer.
